I notice that the students enrolling in my crafting classes have become younger and younger. I now have SHS or even 9th grader students signing up for our Soap Making Classes. Whenever I ask them on their reason to take the class, they often tell me it’s for their business management class in high school.
Honestly, I was a bit dumbfounded when I first heard that a Business Management subject is now offered in high school. But this made me think how this website is useful–even for the younger audience–to learn about business and finance.
I recently stumbled upon this fun game called Idle Hypermarket Empire from Money Games and was instantly hooked!
Money Games offers dozens of fun, educational, and ad-free online video games for kids about Entrepreneurship, Finance, and Business.
So basically the game lets you start with your own retail center with 2 staff and you have to figure out how to efficiently handle your staff and income to grow your Hypermarket.
Here you see I’m building my first million as I progress to earn my first billion…
… and even achieved getting my first Trillion as I unlocked 6 floors for my Hypermarket.
It came to a point where my little Hypermarket was offered to have an investor and have it go with its Initial Public Offering (IPO). In case you’re not familiar with this business jargon, it is when a private company is being offered for public by sale of its stocks to the general public for the first time. This is usually an indicator of growth for the company.
When you accept to have an investor, it restarts the game to zero and you’d have to build your business back up again. I took this challenge since I have already gained the insight on how to strategically grow my Hypermarket more efficiently.
What I love most about this game is that it’s not a time and attention-hogger. For a busy woman like me–who likes an occasional wind-down through worthwhile online games, the Idle Hypermarket Empire lets you continue with the game and earn even when you’re doing something else, like let’s say finishing your presentation deck or even if you wish to check and respond to some work emails.
The game runs in the background and lets you earn as indicated in your Idle Income–perfect for a multi-tasker like me! So here’s how much I earn by just responding to a few emails.
And I earn a few more should I decide to watch a full-length Youtube video.
As it runs in the back ground and continuously earn coins, this game lets you strategize and think of the best ways to spend your earnings by investing on either your operational efficiency, or growing your floors, or increasing your manpower capacity and skills. Once you get the hang of the game, it’s easy to build your Hypermarket and grow it to unlock all 9 floors.
At this point, you can continue with the game or accept another Investor offer and start back to Zero in exchange for a better profit. 😉
Obviously I had a little too much fun playing Idle Hypermarket Empire. But if you think this is not up your alley, Money Games has other business-focused online video games like Burger Shop or Cooking Fever where you hone your skills in managing the daily operations of a business or even character games like The Powerpuff Girls Panic in Townsville and Ben10 Omnicode. I’m sure with all the available free online games on the site, there’s something that would catch you or your kids’ fancy.
