Sauceria Restaurant: Artisan dishes and sauces

My beau and I were cruising along Boni Serrano Ave/Santolan to look for a new resto to try. I initially picked North Park Kopi Tiam since it’s nearby. However, this shabby chic Sauceria Restaurant caught our eye.

The place was empty on a weekday noon time. Being in an off-location, this was understandable. The menu was quite simple, too. But I was looking forward to taste their artisan cooking.

I ordered their home-made Black Grape Yogurt Smoothie (Php145.00). The yogurt is home-made and is really tangy by itself so the sugar syrup that came with it helped balance out the tartness of the yogurt. This is an acquired taste. I remember flinching in my first bite but you’ll love it as you go along. If it helps, you could ask for additional sugar syrup.

I wanted to try something new, so instead of the normal white/cream sauced order or carbonara, I chose to have their pomodoro. Now, I don’t normally eat tomato-based or red sauced pasta, I figured, since this is artisanal cooking, the tomato sauce is prepared fresh and from scratch. The only think I don’t like about eating red sauced pasta is the taste of processed tomatoes.

True enough, Sauceria Restaurant’s Pomodoro (Php235.00) tastes fine for my palate. It had a generous serving of Parmesan cheese and two thin slices of garlic bread. I’m not into bread so the thinner-than-I’d-normally-get sliced bread is fine.

I would give this place a 3.5 out of 5 rating as I think they can still improve on their menu.

The Pomodoro looks yummy and fresh. I like pasta that looks pale kasi most probably, that was made with real and fresh tomatoes. 🙂 The black grape yogurt looks sour to me. Haha. But the presentation is really nice. Price range is affordable too
