Product Review: Stash Spice Dragon Red Chai Herbal Tea

I have a penchant for French macarons and tea. From time to time, I like to deviate from my usual chamomile blend and pick up new blends from the grocery store.

Just recently, I got Stash’s Spice Dragon Red Chai Herbal Tea to try. After falling in love with TJ’s Speculoos, I knew anything with cinnamon and ginger would be a hit for me. While shopping for a new blend to try, this caught my eye–well, actually, it was a toss up between this blend and Stash’s Cinnamon Apple Chamomile Tea.

I picked this instead because of the word Chai. Initially, I thought ‘Chai’ to be an ingredient. Later on, I realized that I mistook it as CHIA from CHIA SEEDS. >.<

Anyway, Chai is the Indian word for tea. Chai is a powerful blend of tea, herbs and spices. Chai is typically made with black tea, but also available with green tea, Rooibos (or red tea) and yerba mate. In this blend, the main ingredient is Rooibos.

Rooibos is naturally caffiene-free. It also contains a huge array of antioxidants called aspalathin and nothofagin.  These antioxidants protect the body by fighting free radicals and protect you from cancer. The polyphenols also have anti-inflammatory properties and can safeguard against heart disease.

Stash Premium Spice Dragon Red Chai Herbal Tea
Rooibos, also known as red tea, combines with clove, ginger root, and sweet cinnamon to create a unique, caffeine-free sweet and spicy chai.

100% Natural Ingredients: Cinnamon, Rooibos, Ginger Root, Clove

Drinking rooibos protects you from Parkinsons/Alzheimers disease as it helps protect your cells from lipid peridoxation–a process where free radicals damage brain cells and nerve tissue. Rooibos tea contains phenyl pyretic acid, which can help to improve acne, psoriasis and eczema. And since rooibos has high mineral content and lack of caffeine, it helps people to feel calm and relaxed.

Ginger and cinnamon combined helps boost metabolism, aids digestion and is packed with anti-oxidants for cancer prevention. These two ingredients reduces PMS and bloating.  Cinnamon may also help in regulating blood-sugar levels, reduce cholesterol and may help fight colon cancer.

Finally, clove is known to aid digestion. It also has pain relieving properties that may help alleviate ulcer pain. In addition, clove has antibacterial properties that you can benefit.

A box is about Php140.00 and it contains 18 teabags. I love the cinnamon kick in every sip and the coolness of ginger as the tea slips down my throat. One tea bag tastes okay even if it’s in 2L – 2.5L water. Since the tea is a bit on the darker side, it may stain your teeth so make sure to rinse your mouth with water after drinking this tea.
