Reformulated Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Scar Serum

I have been a fan of Palmer’s Scar Serum since I was in college–that’s almost 12 years of making sure that I always have a bottle sitting somewhere in my room. It’s my go-to serum for all the acquired scratches from my furbabies. I mean, if it wasn’t for Palmer’s Scar Serum, there’s a huge 2-inch scar on my right cheek today.

Here’s my emptied bottle and my new one:

Upon closely checking the ingredients list (I have come to this new habit of carefully reading the ingredients lately..), I noticed that Shark Liver Oil–more popularly marketed as Squalene–is missing in the new version. I guess this is because there has been increased tariffs or even restrictions in sourcing shark liver oil.

But, with the omission of Shark Liver Oil, I can see that they have replaced it with Safflower Oil–which, I think, is not a good idea as this is also a PUFA or Polyunsaturated Fatty Acid (let me talk about PUFAs in the coming days).

Anyhoo.
