Since launching my , I have been sitting longer hours in front of the computer as I do a lot of editing (quick plugging: I upload every Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays!), aside from the hours I’d spend blogging.
With that, I noticed that I have been experiencing chronic back pains–specifically on my right side, which, by the way, is also my dominant side.
So when Polarity Physiotherapy Center invited me to visit their center, I didn’t even bat an eyelash to schedule an appointment, stat!
I was finally able to schedule an appointment last Thursday afternoon at Polarity Physiotherapy Center.
Upon arriving, I was escorted to this holding area and asked to fill up these forms that would give them an idea about my medical history or things that I have been physically dealing with recently.
Before starting my session, I had a quick tour around the center. Below is just one of the 7 rooms of Polarity Physiotherapy Center. They can accommodate 8 patients at once.
This is their VIP room. As the name says, this is the biggest therapy room at the center. Looks super homey, don’t you think?
Polarity offers professional service with a very comfortable and homey feel. It’s like a fusion of spa and rehabilitation center in one.
Walking through the hallway, you can spot these artsy shots framed on the wall. I was told that one of the owners of Polarity Physiotherapy Center happens to be a professional landscape photographer. 🙂
Anyway, here is their rehabilitation and gym area:
I recognized this equipment when I had my rehab session in St. Luke’s years ago when I sprained my ankle twice and had to undergo a 2-week PT session in the hospital.
Going further inside the center, they also have all these power-lifting equipment available for use.
There’s also an indoor power lifting area. I was told that clients normally book packaged sessions to be able to use these facilities.
I was quite impressed with the range of physical activity sessions that you can experience at Polarity Physiotherapy Center. The center caters from those who need relief from pain, prevention or recovery from injury, or improvement of current physical condition; to those who need to kickstart a healthy lifestyle; down to those who need to train and strengthen their physical endurance.
From people who should undergo simple physical therapy sessions to power lifters, Polarity Physiotherapy Center has everything for you.
So I’m back at my therapy room as it was time for my myofascial release (MFR) therapy session. If you’re curious what’s myofascial release (MFR), it’s a type of treatment used to tread chronic pain, be it at the back, neck, head, etc. It’s a safe and very effective hands-on or manual technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the myofascial connective tissue or your muscles. Basically, myofascial release (MFR) therapy focuses on releasing muscular shortness and tightness.
I normally have chronic back pains on my shoulder blades and towards my lower back. During the assessment, I was told by my therapist, Nigel, that my hips aren’t aligned and that my right leg is longer than my left. With that, my therapist started doing some hip alignment.
After which, I had my myofascial release (MFR) therapy session, which was more like a deep tissue massage. If you’re not into these hard massage, BRACE YOURSELVES! Kidding. You can freely tell your therapist if it’s becoming uncomfortable so he/she can adjust the pressure accordingly. While I, I decided to endure the pain so as to get the most out my first session.
Nigel also performed dry needling on my lower back since there were too much muscle tightness (or lamig as they call it) on it. This wasn’t painful AT ALL. I didn’t even feel the needles going in my skin! My therapist told me that the area around the needle should feel a little heavy. But to be honest, I didn’t feel ANYTHING at all. :p
After the dry needling, Nigel taught me some stretches I can do everyday to help alleviate my muscle pains and I’m good to go!
