Since Lipcote can get awfully drying on the lips, I don’t think it’s perfect for my Valentine’s date. I don’t want to be worrying with lipsticks lying in between the crevices of my lips looking dry and shriveled.
So today, I’m comparing two lip paints and see who will stand the test of time and still look pretty all through out the night.
I’m sure I have told you about Maybelline’s lip paint before. So let’s talk about Revlon’s ColorStay Overtime Lipcolor first.
The product promises a 16-hour-no-touch-up lip color. It’s a 2 in 1 product with lipcolor on one end and a gloss or topcoat on the other. This Revlon ColorStay Lipcolor really piqued my interest and I thought this looked promising.
And it looked pretty, too.
The lipcolor smelled a little like Lipcote. I dunno, maybe that’s the smell of the longwear ingredient. I applied two coats of color and waited for it to dry. However, the product is too runny that the lipcolor moved everywhere and it was really hard to get an even coat of color.
However, it gets worse when you apply the topcoat. After letting the lipcolor set/dry, I applied the topcoat and the color on my lip went with the brush (so you see the lipcolor on the topcoat’s brush!) and I ended up having messy, uneven colored lips. 🙁
Comparing the two products, Maybelline has a thicker consistency. Oh, and there’s nothing about the applicator that makes on better than the other since I’d still use my lipbrush anyway.
What I love about Maybelline’s Lip Polish is that the color leaves a hint of color on your lips even if the product is gone. So, in a way, it’s better during important nights since you know you won’t have sickly pale lips by the time you have to kiss goodnight.
I guess it’s clear who won this round. 😉
