Product Review: Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer

If you have combination skin, nothing can let makeup wear be more challenging than having oily lids. Like, you’d love how your makeup looks on point after application, but hates the way it looks after 4-5 hours–you know what I mean? This is probably one of the main reasons what I don’t put much eye makeup and I basically keep my daily makeup to a minimum.

Thankfully, there are primers that we can use to combat these makeup woes. I’m sure you’ve heard of this brand but I just want to share my HG eyeshadow primer–Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer.

Prior to discovering this, I was using the ELF eye primer–the one that came in a tube form and had a lipgloss doe-foot application. The product worked well for me but my only problem is that it dries up so fast inside the tube that I almost always throw more than half of it away.

The first time I used this Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer, I was a bit surprised that the product was too runny. So, yeah, a dot would be enough to cover your entire lid. But the product dries fairly fast that you don’t have to wait long before you can apply your eyeshadow.

What’s great about this primer is that it dries like second skin, unlike my old ELF primer that feels tacky when it dries. This one goes smooth and dries smooth so it lets eyeshadow application easier. After 8-12 hours, I can see no creasing on my lids–which is great! Normally, without eye primer, my lids would start to crease on its 4th hour. And probably, by its 8th hour, the shadows would start to fade. This primer kept it all in place and pretty.

I’ve been using the elf primer too. So far it works great on me. 🙂 This one is a bit pricey for me so I guess I’ll stick with the elf one for the meantime. 🙂
