A Lazy Girl’s Guide in Deep Cleaning Your Face

Remember those nights when you come home 3 or 4am-ish from a night of great partying and you just want to crash into your bed and finally snooze? I know the struggle is sometimes real. Sometimes we’re just too lazy to take that step of washing our face before hitting the sack. But then again, we are all reminded that the number one rule of thumb to have great skin is to keep good hygiene, which includes the subcontext: Never sleep in with your makeup on.

Luckily we now have super-perfoming products that can deep clean our face.

I did a little experiment recently and found out that washing your face 2x won’t even get all the makeup out of your face. The photo above shows 3 cotton pads still smeared with foundation even after washing my face with soap and water twice. I can just imagine all the makeup that’s still left my face in all these years of just using soap and water. Eww.

Basically, getting a bottle of Micellar Cleansing Water (my favorite’s Biore) is probably the easiest way for us to handle this dilemma. Seriously, its no-rinse formula gets all the deep-seated makeup in your pores. You don’t even have to wash your face first. You can just go straight to using a micellar cleansing water solution to get rid of all the gunk from your face, repeat 2-3 times or until your cotton pad has cleared up and sleep right in.

Now if you have more budget to spare, I would also suggest for you to get a sonic cleansing brush. This time my favorite is my Clarisonic Mia 2.

I’ve had this for 2 years now and I still enjoy using it every morning. I’d normally use my Clarisonic in the morning versus at the end of the day so I won’t have to stain my replaceable brush too easily. And yes, I diligently toss away my brush heads every 3 months.

In my experiment, after washing my face with two rounds of using Clarisonic and my favorite facial cleanser, the cotton pad with Biore Micellar Cleansing Water is almost clear (see the photo above). This just shows that using a sonic cleaning brush to work in your skin actually gets ride of makeup and dirt from your face more effectively versus just using soap and water.

So I hope this 2016 you’d include adapting a better facial cleaning method as part of your New Year’s Resolution, if you haven’t already done so. Remember, the first step to any good makeup application is by having a great canvas (your skin!) to work with.

Happy New Year!
