Looking for a new place to bring your date on Valentine’s? How about some Swiss cuisine for a change? Yup, I bet you’ve never heard of this quaint house-turned-resto in Antipolo that serves exquisite Swiss menu–with a sweet touch of Filipino hospitality–for over 20 years now.
Vieux Chalet, which means “home on top of a mountain,” sits on top of Antipolo so you can enjoy some view while dining. The place is a bit small, about 7 to 10 tables, so you’ll appreciate the level of privacy that it offers. Having this in mind, I guess it’s best for you to reserve a table in advance if you are planning to come here on Valentine’s.
I was delighted to see that even the menu and their table piece had that home-made touch. Vieux Chalet offers a very cozy ambiance with friendly and courteous staff. The entire place is downright romantic. It appears obvious to me that a lot of couples have dined here to celebrate a special occasion like an anniversary (like us) or even had their wedding proposals done here.
Look, even their hot sauce is home-made!
We asked for their best-seller so we had this Lamb Shoulder to try.
I’m not really into lamb meat so I ordered my Spinach Ravioli in Truffle Oil instead.
Vieux Chalet’s ravioli is home-made and it’s really yummy. Drizzled with truffle oil, it enriches the taste of the spinach in the pasta.
I have ordered ravioli in various restaurants here in Manila and none has compared to Vieux Chalet’s. In fact, I love ravioli and most raviolis I have tasted before tasted like canned food. 🙁 I’m so glad Vieux Chalet’s ravioli is exactly how your ravioli should be done.
Oh, and did I mention they serve awesome cocktails? I ordered this amazing lemongrass mojito and it was the bomb!
So if you haven’t done your reservations yet, I’d highly recommend to check out Vieux Chalet in Antipolo.
Vieux Chalet is a little off road and tucked in one of the villages in Antipolo. So I’d suggest to search using Villa Cristina Antipolo in Waze. Once you reach the guard house, you can ask the guard how to get to Vieux Chalet.
