BLK513 Activated Charcoal Froyo–is it worth the hype?

This long queue of line at the 2nd floor of Mega Building A would always get be curious. It used to be a quick stop selling delicious ice cream cake–albeit not being able to generate enough foot traffic to survive, I guess. This new store is called BLK513 and it sells frozen yogurt (froyo).

So I thought, what else is new with froyos? This trend has boomed and went away along when The Hills ended anyway.

And then I realized, it was this activated charcoal froyo that they’re selling–quite interesting, tbh! So when I recently chanced upon the store not having too much people in line, I took the opportunity to try it out, to see if this was worth all the lines were for.

BLK513 basically sells 2 products, you can choose either the Dark Skim Cup (Php185.00) or the Dark Skim Cone (Php170.00). Since I wasn’t in the mood to eat ice cream cones that day, I went for the one in the cup.

Then you’ll choose 1 crunch, which is a selection of crushed cookies, or cereals, or choco chips:

You also get to pick 2 fruits from their daily selection:

And finally, choose one sauce:

I ended up getting this white-chocolate-chip-strawberry-kiwi-with-PB-wonder dark skim cup:

It actually looks yummy–totally photogenic–but the taste? meh.

I love the thought of ingesting something healthy–like the activated charcoal froyo, which is basically the store’s selling point as the benefits are well displayed at the store. But I guess I’m not into having this hardened PB Wonder syrup and choco chips in my froyo. I just hated it altogether!

For the price, I’d rather go to Pinkberry and have my yogurt fix. But then again, I’d be missing all the activated charcoal fun of this product, right? So I thought, why not having an option of taking out the crunches and the sauces and just give the customers added fruits? Hmm… 😛

I’m not shunning BLK513 entirely. Somehow I also think I got the wrong combination. Or maybe I’m not looking for that ‘texture’ in my froyo–I just like them fruity and tangy. I dunno.
