NEW FAVORITE: Maybelline Colorsensational Velvet Matte

Ahhh liquid lipsticks, the best thing ever since waterproof all-day mascaras.

While I absolutely loved Maybelline’s first liquid lipstick called Lip Polish, here’s yet another lip product to dive into–Maybelline’s new Velvet Matte–an improved version of Maybelline’s liquid lipstick.

Currently an exclusive from Beauty MNL, Maybelline’s Velvet Matte is the answer to your dreams of having a cheaper alternative to Lime Crime’s Velvetines (finally!). Oh, but wait, this one’s better… because this doesn’t give you that icky scaly lips that most matte liquid lipsticks do. So yay for that!

I was initially eyeing Mat 9 or Mat 11 but I thought I might not like the finish and would end up wasting another tube of liquid lipstick so I ended up picking ‘safer’ lipstick shades and I’m sure I’d wear more often.

I finally ended up getting Mat 2–a beautiful bright neon pink, and Mat 5–a tangy orange tinted red lipstick. I was too excited to try these babies out and see if they’re really worth the hype.

What I love about Maybelline Colorsensational Velvet Matte is that it sticks to its promise that it will moisturize your lips and yet deliver that velvet matte finish. The product glides buttery soft on the lips and, somehow, the ease of application is fantastic. In fact, I didn’t need to use my lipbrush to evenly spread the product on my lips.

One coat can deliver that bright opaque color that you need to last through the next 3-4 hours. Once the product has completely dried on your lips, say 1-1.5 hours after application, it doesn’t transfer on your cup or it turns kiss-proof. However, transfer rate is high if the product is not yet completely dry.

Maybelline Colorsensational Velvet Matte may settle in the cracks of your lips but, unlike most velvet matte liquid lipsticks, it doesn’t turn your lips drier than they should me. In most liquid lipsticks that I have tried, they highlight my lips’ dry skin making it look scaly and really unpleasant. I’m so glad I didn’t experience that on both of my Maybelline Colorsensational Velvet Mattes.

Maybelline Colorsensational Velvet Matte is currently sold exclusively on Beauty MNL for Php299.00, a discounted price from its regular Php349.00 price tag. Available in 9 shades but Mat12, a nude color, is already sold out.

I love Maybelline Matte Velvet lip cream, great quality and so affordable! I have the blushing petal and keep It Classy which is my favourite .

I used the NYX Matte Lipstick before because it is readily available on stores and there are many IG sellers. It has lots of colors to choose from and affordable. Now that I am looking for a matte lippie that really stays for hours and doesn’t leave any cup mouth stain. I’ll try this one to complete my everyday office look that doesn’t require retouching frequently. Thank you for this review. 🙂

Ive missed ur blog ms jirbie! Hehe anyways.. Is Maybelline matte lippy can also be a good dupe for clio lipnicure and nyx lipcream??.. Theyre not always accessible kasi. Nyx have sg auth so a big no no for me ..d ko always sure if theyre really authentic..while clio is very expensive plus youll have to pay a shipping fee if u ordered it online. While maybelline are always available in dept stores and watsons.. Very accessible and affordable.. These kinds of lip prods are becoming famous these days. Thanks ms jirbie for reviewing this. !!

I’m not a fan of Nyx lipcream but I think this is a good alternative to Clio 😉

I have tried Nyx Lip Cream too and it’s pretty okay. Not the best but it’s still pretty good. Hmm, I have tried a liquid lipstick from Maybelline and I find it a bit sticky so I decided to get Bold Matte lipstick na lang. 🙂 But these lipsticks look great, I like the shades you picked. 🙂

Does it leave an awful lipliner effect? I detest a ring of color around my mouth so i stayed away from liquid to matte lipsticks. I like lipsticks that fade evenly.

Hello Chas, same here!! Well, for me Maybelline Velvet Matte doesn’t give me the lipliner effect. 🙂

Another good review. I just got Mat12 and so far so good. Its more lighter on my lips compared to Rimmel Provocalips and Nyx Matte Lip Creme. But for the longevity, I’ll give it to Nyx. This is shade is selling fast so i asked my suking promodizer in a Watsons branch to reserve one for mecand got it after few days.
