PhotoDiary: Side Tripping in Suwon, Korea (Part 2)

Here’s my part 2 my trip in Korea last month. For the second day, we went to Suwon, the provincial capital of Gyeonggi-do where the old capital city of South Korea was–I never knew that there was another capital city apart from Seoul in the history of the Republic of South Korea. So if you’re in the mood to be a little tourist-y, please keep on reading this post.

We left K Hotel at around 7.30am and went straight to the hotel’s shuttle stop so we can be dropped off to the nearest subway station.

We got to Suwon at around 11am where we were picked up by Chris’ friends and had a quick lunch somewhere on the way. We had bibimbap (Korean Mixed Rice) since this menu originated from Suwon.

It was a 3-hour drive to where we had our short business meeting with Chris’ partners.

After the meeting, they decided to take us around Suwon. But we had our samgyeopsal dinner first at this delicious Korean Barbeque restaurant.

After our hearty dinner, they toured us at the famous HwaSeong Fortress. If you follow me on Snapchat, I’m sure you had a tour of the castle as well. I have been posting so much snaps during that time.

We were told that it takes 4-5 hours to fully go around the fortress. We didn’t have much time so we just went to as much spots as we can.

Here are the markers as to which part of the fortress you are in.

HwaSeong Fortress is a famous tourist spot in Korea and the government has had efforts in preserving the aesthetics of this UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.

Look at those pretty LED light sharks swimming in the water.

Super thanks to Kyo for taking us around and sharing with us historical snippets about Suwon and this beautiful castle.

After the tour, we grabbed some beer and chicken by the side walk. Having beer and chicken is a thing in Korea.

The chicken is yummy, though.

We called it a day at around 10pm and checked in at Thassos Hotel, which is just a 5-minute walk from the subway station.

Our room was really comfortable, plus we enjoyed using the in-room amenities like clothes sterilizer. Haha!

Anyway, watch out for my final post about my Korea Trip some time next week! Happy no-work Wednesday! xx
