New Favorite: L’Oreal True Match Liquid Foundation in G2

Come up to me 2 years ago and I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing any foundation. Face makeup used to scare intimidate me. I hated the feeling of having a thick liquid mask on my face, somehow blocking my skin to breathe. Until I’ve discovered a good and light weight foundation that made me appreciate the beauty of actually wearing face makeup.

Since my L’Oreal Infallible 24H foundation ran out already, which is the first ever foundation that I fell in love with, it was sort of a no-brainer for me to try out another foundation from L’Oreal.

I have been reading a lot of positive reviews about this L’Oreal True Match Foundation. Now that it’s in the pump component that I love, I wasted no time in going to Watson’s and getting myself a bottle.

To be honest, I’m still not a pro in matching myself with the right foundation. I tend to go a little off from my skintone–sometimes I’d pick a foundation that’s too dark, just because my face looks so much fairer than my neck. Sometimes I’d ace it, sometimes no. The tricky part is, with regard to most face makeup, you’d really have to wear it a full day and see how it looks once it oxidizes on your skin after 8-10 hours to see if it’s really a match.

I was originally eyeing for shade G3 since, in my mind, my skin is so much darker than it is. Call it fake tan, but I just hate to see floating whiter heads on photos whenever the flash hits my face. But I’ve been to 2 or 3 L’Oreal counters and it was always out of stock. I cannot wait anymore to go out without foundation so I picked shade G2 instead.

It intrigued me that this foundation has shimmer in it–can you see the fine golden shimmer? I knew this was made for Asian skin, so I thought this can’t be too dewy for our taste. So I pumped once on my stippling brush and noticed that the product is quite runny, too. It was a whole lot less viscous than my L’Oreal Infallible Foundation, which was quite tricky since I have to apply it faster on my face or else most of the product might slip between the bristles of my brush. I do, however, like the thought that it’s a lightweight foundation so I know that my skin can breathe better.

The shimmer might look a bit intimidating on the bottle, but don’t worry, it won’t give you an Edward Cullen-ish sparkling face. lol. To my surprise, upon application, the fine specks of gold sits beautifully on the skin. In fact, these tiny specks of gold would just be there, sitting pretty, even up to 8 hours of wear.

I have been using this foundation for a week now and I’m really loving it. I think I’m matched with G2 (since G3 was just a wild guess of mine). I just wish the ladies in the L’Oreal counter could’ve helped me pick the right shade as they weren’t much of help when I was trying to find my real shade. Anyhoo.

This L’Oreal True Match Foundation retails for Php600.00, but is currently on sale at Php480.00. I’m not sure until when will it be on sale, though.

    Hi,

How do you think it compares to the Infallible 24H foundation, especially in terms of application, longevity and finish?

    Thanks for your help.

I think this one is more sheer versus my Infallible liquid foundation. Also, this one has micro-glitters to provide a bit of highlight/glow that the Infallible doesn’t have. Longevity feels the same for both for me. Infallible sets in my laugh lines, which I hate as it is very noticeable–even my friends notice it!–and this foundation doesn’t. Overall, I’m more into settling for this True Match versus the Infallible.
