So I was at the store recently to look for an eyeshadow base, which can double as my eye primer. I have heard a lot about Urban Decay Primer Potion and how it’s everybody’s HG primer. But since my eyes are notoriously oily, I don’t want to splurge in something that might not work for me.
I have used ELF’s eye primers before and those things work. But the problem is, they get dry in the tube easily. So I was looking for a cheap primer that’s in a different form that can work as well.
I prefer getting my NYX products straight from their retail store in SM Megamall–this one I got for Php460.00. At the time I bought this, there was a bazaar right inside SM Megatrade Hall that sells the same thing for only Php330.00. I know you can buy NYX products from online stores but I’d like to think I’m paying for something that can guarantee me a fresh stock.
NYX had two other types of eyeshadow base: NYX HD Eyeshadow Base and Proof it! Waterpoof Eyeshadow Primer. The latter is not available yet at their retails stores, though. All of which are priced at Php460.00
Maximize the intensity, longevity and brilliance of your eye shadow statements with our eye shadow primer pots. Each of the three NYX Eye Shadow Bases—for vibrant, pearl or neutral tones—creates a smooth canvas for color, increases its durability and prevents fallout.
This type of eyeshadow base comes in 3 shades: White (ESB01), Pearl (ESB02), and Skin Tone (ESB03). I asked the Sales Assistant (SA) as to which pot would suit my type of lid. For super oily lids like mine, the type that washes away any eyeshadow throughout the day, she recommended me to pick up White since it’s matte.
Now it’s time to put it to test.
NYX Eyeshadow Base in White (ESB01) is true to its promise to make your shadows stay all day, even on notoriously oily lids like mine. It works best on powder eyeshadows. Using this as a base for cream eyeshadows would make the shadow stay but do expect creasing. So I suggest setting your cream shadows with a powder shadow. I say, not bad at all. For the price, it kept my eyeshadow in place for more than 12 hours.
I’ve read a lot of reviews and, to be honest, this product might not work as great for you. Remember that not all HG products for somebody else may perform as wonderful for you. I say it’s best to check out the stores and try out the tester pots before buying.
